RBC Avion Visa Infinite Review 2026: Is It Still Worth It?
The RBC Avion Visa Infinite has been a Canadian travel card staple for years. We review the 2026 version — earn rates, redemptions, and whether better options now exist.
The RBC Avion Visa Infinite ($120/year) earns RBC Avion points — a flexible rewards currency redeemable for flights, hotels, and merchandise through RBC's Rewards Centre. It's been a Canadian standard for over a decade, but the landscape has changed significantly since launch.
Earn Rates
The Avion Visa Infinite earns 1.25x Avion points per dollar on all purchases (no bonus categories), and 1.75x on travel purchases. RBC Avion points are valued at ~1.0–1.5¢ each, making this effectively 1.25–2.0% back on everyday spending and 1.75–2.6% on travel.
Avion vs Aeroplan
Avion points can be transferred to Westjet, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, and Singapore Airlines. This transfer flexibility is valuable — but the transfer ratios aren't always 1:1. RBC Avion to British Airways Avios transfers at 1:1, and BA Avios offer strong North America short-haul redemptions.
Verdict: Still Worth It in 2026?
The RBC Avion Visa Infinite is a solid card but no longer best-in-class. The TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite earns more points in bonus categories (1.5x on groceries, gas, and Air Canada vs the Avion's flat 1.25x) for the same $139/year fee. However, if you're primarily an RBC customer and want a simple premium travel card that integrates with your RBC account, the Avion Visa Infinite remains a respectable choice. For pure rewards maximizers, look elsewhere.
